Meet Eric

I am a husband and a parent, and I have been a teacher in Arizona for over 20 years.

For those 20 plus years I have witnessed the majority party in Arizona steadily underfund our public schools. My opponents have regularly voted to fund incarceration instead of education. Arizona ranks dead last in teacher salaries and next to last in per pupil funding. We must not continue down this dark path. Our kids deserve better.

My opponents have demonstrated time and again that they do not respect the voice of the people. But I will. When the citizens successfully passed legislation raising the minimum wage, what did the majority party do? They met behind closed doors devising ways to to make it difficult for citizen initiatives to get on the ballot, outlawing the traditional way of gathering signatures for ballot measures. And yet, they did not apply the same new rules to themselves as they gather signatures for their candidacies. If you agree with me that this double standard law-making is not fair, I am ready to listen to you and act on your behalf. Your voice will be my voice.

Maya Angelou said, “If you don’t like something; change it. If you can’t change it; change your attitude.” In the midst of everything that is wrong in Arizona, I know I cannot change my attitude, and if you believe as I do that we must change Arizona’s downward spiral, let's do it: Together we can change District 23!

Here's how we'll do it:

  • I will ensure every child in Arizona gets an equal opportunity to succeed.

  • I will reject the private prison system which profits investors by incarcerating non-violent Arizona citizens.

  • I will ensure the will of the people of Arizona is followed by protecting ballot initiatives and our ability to collect signatures.

  • I will stop the wasteful private school tax credits. No more welfare for the wealthy! Those dollars will be invested in our public schools.

Join me in the fight for Arizona's future. It's time for a teacher!
